Flist, I turn to you.

For my Serial Killer Class, I must read or watch a piece of modern serial killer literature we don't read in class (this would be most - we're covering M, Psycho, Zombie, American Psycho, Last House on the Left, a Poppy Z Brite novel, etc). I'm more into the werewolves, vampires, and ghosts end of horror. So, friends, what would you suggest I read/watch?

(Apparently cannibalism counts and I suspect comics would be fine.)

Psycho will never not scare me.

Cabinet of Curiosities by Douglas Preston and Lincoln Child (I think, I always eff up their names-- the guys that wrote Relic). I don't know why it sticks out in my head the way it does, it's possibly for the vague fantasy quality where you think the killer really could achieve immortality like he thinks he can.

Might not be up your alley/might be too fluffy, but.
