Re: For <lj user="sunnny">, Clean Air Part II

Jared allowed himself to be pulled out of the car and immediately leaned on Jensen again, sticking his face roughly against the side of his head. "You smell nice."

"Yeah, yeah." Jensen closed the car door and tried to direct Jared to the apartment building and the elevator. "I'm pretty, I'm nice, I smell good. I get the message: you think I'm a total girl."

"Nah," Jared told him, totally serious, as he stumbled over a step. "You're not a girl. You're a guy. Definitely a guy."

"Okay, elevator time, Jare. Almost home," Jensen said as he led Jared into the elevator. Jared immediately stepped closer to Jensen and wrapped his arms around his shoulder. Normally, Jared was affectionate with touch, having no problem hugging a person, or slapping them on the back, or, on a few memorable occasions, trying to climb someone like a tree, but Jensen felt justified in worrying as Jared began to nuzzle his hair. Really worrying. Jared mumbled something incomprehensible and Jensen could feel his breath on the top of his ear.

Before Jensen could take his thoughts further toward the causes of Jared's behavior, the elevator door opened onto Jared's floor. Jensen could feel Jared look up.

"Hey, we're going to my apartment!"

Jensen broke free of Jared's arms and stepped into the the hallway. "Yeah, we are. Now where are your keys?"

Jared stumbled forward. "My pocket. I think." He yawned widely and fumbled around in his pocket, triumphantly pulling out the keys before promptly dropping them on the floor. "Shit."

Jensen bent down and picked them up. "Am I going to need to walk your dogs tonight or did you do that already?"

"They're good," Jared slurred as he made his way into his apartment and toward his bedroom.

Jensen trailed after him, scratching Harley behind the ears when he trotted up to him, as if to ask what was wrong with his owner. "You sure?"

Jared mumbled something incoherent in response, but Jensen thought he caught the word "sleep." He watched Jared literally fall onto the bed, fully clothed and on top of the duvet. He stepped into the room, leaving a whining Harley at the door.

"Come on, I know you're tired, but really..." He pulled at Jared's boots until they came off. "There's no way you're this drunk, Jare. We were only there for a couple of hours. If you just get up, I'll help you with the blankets."

Jared obediently stood and let Jensen pulled at the blanket. "You're the best friend ever, Jensen."

"Yeah, don't I know it. Now, get into to bed. Sleeping time now."

Jared mumbled something close to Jensen's ear and kissed it before turning and crawling into bed. Jensen just froze and stared at Jared's sleeping body.

That, he decided, was in no way normal. Sure, he'd noticed Jared, and not in a checking-out-the-competition sort of way, but then he'd forgotten about it. They were friends now. Jensen had had time years ago to come to terms with the fact that he found some men attractive, but he usually just ignored it, especially when the man in question was his best friend. His very straight best friend. God, something was very wrong with this picture.

Jensen walked back out into the broad open space of the living room, with Harley whining at his heels. Clearly, something was wrong with Jared. He was uncoordinated, confused, slurring, falling, and kissing his best friend. That sounded like some drunk people Jensen knew, but not Jared. And Jared hadn't had that much to drink anyway, not enough to get him passing out drunk. He stood, staring at Harley for a moment. "Something's wrong with your human, buddy."

Re: For <lj user="sunnny">, Clean Air Part III

Harley barked at him. Nothing stirred in the bedroom, but Sadie lifted her head in her dog bed to see why Harley was making noise. Jensen frowned and rubbed Harley's head. The more he thought about Jared's behavior, the more concerned he became. What if he wasn't drunk? What if he were sick, or if someone had slipped something into his drink? Weren't giddiness and increased affection signs of being drugged?

He turned around and went back into Jared's bedroom. Jared was sprawled over the bed with one arm hanging off the side. He didn't look like he was in danger of dying anytime soon and he was lying on his side, so he would probably be safe if he vomited. Jensen bit his lower lip and touched his ear where Jared had kissed him. Just in case something happened during the next couple of hours, he would spend tonight on the couch, he decided. Jared obviously wasn't feeling himself and if something happened, Jensen would be there to help.

*

"Uh... do you want some coffee?"

Jensen turned his head and winced as he was immediately whacked in the face by an enthusiastic dog tail. He opened his eyes and saw Jared standing in front of the couch, wearing yesterday's jeans and a new shirt. "You're awake."

"Yeah... Sorry about being..uh... dead to the world," Jared finished awkwardly.

"You okay?" Jensen asked, pulling himself into a sitting position. "You were pretty out of it last night and I was getting worried. I mean, you're normally not like that.'

Jared flushed crimson. "Oh, fuck. I am so sorry. So sorry. I thought - I thought that was a dream. I haven't really been sleeping and I probably shouldn't have been drinking and it was great that you brought me home but, Jesus fuck, I am sorry and-"

"Whoa, whoa." Jensen put up a hand as if that could stop Jared's babbling. "You don't have anything to be sorry for. I was worried that you were sick or drugged or something."

If possible, Jared's cheeks grew redder and he turned to get some coffee from the kitchenette. If Jensen didn't know better, he would have thought that Jared didn't want to look at him. "No... I just haven't been sleeping and I think the alcohol hit me like a truck. I feel like I went ten rounds."

Jensen frowned at Jared's back. "No sleep? What's been up? Anything I can help with?"

"Sandy and I have... We're not together anymore. I've had thing's on my mind."

"You broke off the engagement?" Jensen winced as his bare feet hit the cold floor. "But you were both so excited."

Jared shrugged and busied himself with making coffee. "Yeah, well, we - I realised that maybe it wasn't the best idea."

"But." Jensen stopped and thought about all of the times Sandy had come to visit in Vancouver or Jared had come down to visit her. He thought of how Jared's conversations about his absolutely amazing and wonderful girlfriend had begun to taper off and how he had just assumed that the honeymoon period was over. "I'm sorry. That sucks."

Jared shrugged again, stiffly. "Yeah, well. It turns out that she wasn't so interested in me as her career and maybe I just wasn't so interested in her after all."

Jensen touched his ear and thought about the look on Jared's face when he usually talked about Sandy. "Not interested in her?"

"Look, I'm really sorry," Jared said, spinning around. "I was drunk and exhausted and I'm really, really sorry and if we could just forget about it that'd be great but I understand if you can't and you don't want to talk and you just leave but I really really hope you won't."

"Wait a second." Jensen blinked and thought about what Jared just said. He wished that Jared had made the coffee before he woke him up and wondered just how little sleep Jared had had. "You're saying... you're interested in me?"

"I am so, so sorry."

"You're sorry you like me?"

"I mean, I know you like chicks and you thought I did, too, and you probably didn't think you'd have to deal with anything like this." Jared took a deep breath and said in a small voice, "Please don't hate me."

"Hate you?" Jensen ran a hand over his hair. He hated complicated conversations before his morning caffeine. "Why would I hate you? It's not like you're hideously deformed or anything. You're not that bad looking yourself."

Jared stared at him. "You... what? You don't mind that I kissed you?"

"I'll mind if you told me and now you're just going to stand there between me and my coffee," Jensen told him. "We can figure out the particulars after I have breakfast."

Oh wow, I'm happy you like it. :)

Like I said earlier, I have never written anything close to RPS before, so thank you so much for reading/enjoying. It was originally drunk/exhausted Jensen, but then drunk/exhausted Jared seemed more plausible/easier to write.
