So, at the moment, when I charge my iPod for 16+ hours, it has a battery life < 1.5 hours. I'll be taking Llinos to the Apple Store sometime this week (cannot. function. without. music.) but Llinos is old. Llinos is a 2nd generation Nano, the likes of which they do not make anymore. Unless I'm doing something absurdly stupid (and I've had this thing for years now, so... somewhat unlikely), I'm not sure they'll be able/willing to do anything (that wouldn't be more expensive than buying a new machine).

Suggestions?
Advice?

My aim is to have a viable music source for my train trip north on Sunday May 18. I'm tempted to attempt to con my parents into buying me a new iPod Nano, but I think I've heard some less than pleasant things. I'm thinking of going with getting another Apple product - not because I'm part of some vast Apple-buying hipster conspiracy - because if I bought it over in Ardmore, I'd have it for the train trip. Suggestions? Help? Remember, I generally fail at technology.

(How am I supposed to function without my music? I ask you!)

You can probably get the battery replaced. Even if it's out of warranty. Just make sure to call in and make an appointment. Well actually, you can only do that online but still. Make an appointment with the guru bar.

I can't really help, other than to say that the new Nanos are freakishly ugly so try to fix yours if you can. Otherwise they have a recycle program that gets you 10 or 15% off. I recently got a new classic to replace my dead 4G one and... well. It's a nice machine but I'm kind of wishing I'd gotten something with a better menu. The new scroll wheels don't feel as responsive, and it takes me forever to get through my albums/artists now. Though that could be the software (fewer options per screen).
