You can probably get the battery replaced. Even if it's out of warranty. Just make sure to call in and make an appointment. Well actually, you can only do that online but still. Make an appointment with the guru bar.

I can't really help, other than to say that the new Nanos are freakishly ugly so try to fix yours if you can. Otherwise they have a recycle program that gets you 10 or 15% off. I recently got a new classic to replace my dead 4G one and... well. It's a nice machine but I'm kind of wishing I'd gotten something with a better menu. The new scroll wheels don't feel as responsive, and it takes me forever to get through my albums/artists now. Though that could be the software (fewer options per screen).
