Jared was excited. It wasn't that he was a real Steelers or Cardinals fan. It wasn't that Jensen's burgers were that thrilling (although he wasn't going to tell Jensen that) or that the Superbowl wasn't exciting by itself.

No. His new yarn had come in the mail yesterday. It was the worsted weight charcoal heather and it was even better in person than it had been on the internet. Jensen was going to make fun of him during the game, Jared knew. He was going to make a point of slurping his beer and burping and yelling at the screen.

But Jared knew that after the game, Jensen would curl up under his really hideous patchwork afghan. And that even when he knit something with holes, Jensen wouldn't realise it was a mistake. And even Eric didn't know what to do when Jared gave him knitted hats (really, his head probably got really cold) and the make up girls were always extra nice when he made them really huge Jared-sized scarves.

Jared propped his feet up and turned on the television. No, today would be awesome because he was going to figure out how to make thumbs. Jensen had been complaining about having cold hands on set for ages and maybe he'd finally stop bitching if he had some decent mittens. Jared dug his double pointed needles out of the bag on the coffee table and set to work casting on. If he played his cards right, the ribbing on the wrists would be done before kick off.

this is SO CUTE. i love the comment about kripke's head getting cold, and how jensen is going to make a point to be extra manly during the super bowl (even tho he obviously loves jared's finished knits), and that jared is going to learn how to knit thumbs which will be awesome and he can make jensen some mittens. so adorable, seriously.

I hate that I miss like everything on my flist. I need to cut back on comms. Because this is awesome. You said so much in so few words and the thought of Jared just sitting there knitting away is too adorable (as is Jensen curling up underneath the ugly afghan - which again is so Jared).
