They're bisexual?
No, seriously. They're bisexual?
This is, in my opinion, the awesomest shit to awesome.
I'm not going to apologise; normally I have to watch Torchwood to see non-monosexuals on television. I'm going to revel.
So... the siren is clearly (both in traditional mythology and in Show mythology) a sexual beastie. The siren takes whatever form the victim most desires. For Dean, it takes the form of a man. And then, after a speech on how it loves to fall in love and one of them can live with it happily ever after. And then Sam and Dean fight to the death over who gets to have happily-ever-after with the man who looks vaguely like a less attractive Dean-Castiel hybrid.
Thank you, for putting bisexuals on an American show that isn't about sexuality. Show, you have no idea how happy that you've made me. You have no idea what it means that... I mean, wow. And that it's not all about the sex (which, Torchwood, you're guilty of) but love. Oh, god, that's... Wow. And... Yeah. Reveling now.
However, my mother caught onto the incestuous undercurrent of the show.
She figured that Ms. Widowed Doctor Lady was the siren. And as Sam was sexing her and it cut to commercial, my mother looked at me and said something to the effect of, "But now he has to kill Dean and that makes Dean Sam's wife."
So... My mother's picked up on the gay incest in Supernatural. She still wants to watch it with me - although she's starting to think I should marry Dean and not Sam - but... I don't even know. I feel like it has to be really obvious since she still hasn't figured out that Captain Jack and Ianto are sexing it up.
Otherwise, I liked the use of the siren. I adore that Bobby can read ancient Greek (this totally backs up my fic!) and wears an apron. I liked hearing what's going on with Sam, at least a little, although it totally breaks me that they're falling apart like this. I want the boys to be together! (However, the presence of the siren implies things - that what they really want is each other. Which. More incest. Thanks, Show.)
This is, so far, one of my favorite episodes this season. Thank you, Show.
