There should be a place on LJ where I can shamelessly ask dumb ass questions.

I love my layout a lot. However, it doesn't show up when you comment on my entries.

How do I make you all see my awesome layout when you comment on my journal?

What type of account do you have? That might have something to do with it.

Also, you can go to [livejournal.com profile] everything_lj and ask questions there. It's all about layouts and formatting stuff.

I kind of hope you don't. It's much easier for me to read comments in the current format than in other people's journal's formats.

It's pretty much the same format - it'd mostly have a picture on the top. Or would that give issues?

Not issues, I just try to avoid pictures as much as possible. They confuse me.

It's in your journal settings, where it says, Disable Custom Comment Pages. If you say no, then you get your layout on the comment page. If you say yes, then you get the default comment page. I think you need at least a plus account for that.

Also, FYI, I've read numerous rants by people who can't stand custom comment pages, because some of them are just so hard to read. I've also found that in some layouts, a long string of comments might stretch the whole page out of alignment. For personal entries, custom comment pages are sometimes nice, but it's considered courteous to disable them if you're going to post fic and such. Also, if you disable custom comment pages so you use the default, then your fic doesn't get messed up every time you change your layout.

Oh, got here by friend of friends list. LJ is slow today. *is ashamed*

Click on "Customize Style" under Journal on your Userinfo page.

On the right side, where it says, "Your Current Theme", click on "Customize your theme."

Under basic options where it says, "Disable Custom Comment Pages," click Yes for default, which you have now, and No for comment pages that look like the rest of your journal. Only works if you do not have a Basic account, I think.

Ditto this, I've manually set my own LJ to show other people's 'comment' pages in my style wherever it can. There are some journals I just don't comment on anymore, because they're layout in regards to readability and a whole bunch of other things is just fail. :(

Haha, I hear you. I used to go to the trouble of restyling my whole LJ every time I posted a large fic so there would be supporting elements in the sidebars and matching headers and blah, blah. I was actually kinda heartbroken to hear a lot of people wouldn't even read just because of that. So, right before I posted my big bang I took the plunge and went to default comment pages, and I've never regretted it. It really is easier to read and there's more room, so if I do put in pics or whatever, I don't have to worry if they fit.

Yeah, I use default comment pages as well.

It's really disappointing how many fic writers use all these fancy layouts that *look* great, but either a) make the fiction itself really hard to read or b) make commenting really hard to do. It's like the war between aesthetics vs. 'hey I'm using the internet to interact, not to be locked out of interacting.'
