The valley with the red rocks in the foreground and the Rockies in the background is either Red Rocks Canyon or Garden of the Gods in Colorado Springs, CO. I am just a amateur photographer so I humbly appreciate the "stunning" remark.
It can be scary traveling -- being from the East Coast, I am really astonished at how empty and desolate some parts of this country are. I'm scared to death most of the time I'm on the road, but the memories afterwards are wonderful. Hey, don't laugh at my emergency food rations, I really do travel with them, and I bet Dean does too!
I am relieved that this deal worked out between you and chibitoaster -- what a strange auction that was, with the two of you agreeing to join forces and split the winnings. I am glad that both of you seem very pleased with the results.
