Grab it.
Don't let it slip away.
Don't lose it in dreams
or words.
Clutch it.
Tie it,
and order it
to obey you.
Make it a road,
a bell,
a machine,
a kiss, a book,
a caress...
You
are
your present,
your own apple.
Pick it from
your tree.
Raise it in your hand.
It's gleaming,
rich with stars.
Claim it.
Take a luxurious bite
out of the present,
and whistle along the road
of your destiny. from Pablo Neruda's Ode to the Present

I wish a pleasant Walpurgis and Beltaine to those who celebrate. I originally had a whole gush-my-pagan-heart-out entry written and then wiped it. That old fashioned what-my-religion-means-to-me shlock. Then I realised that no one probably wants to read that and while I'll whine about feminism, bisexuality, school work, medievalism, and general research and have no problem shoving that down anyone's throat, I'm not so cool doing that with my personal practices. If folks are interested, I'll rewrite it. If not, at least I took the evening as contemplation.

So, [livejournal.com profile] foldingstar's awesome link made me think that maybe I should look into queer activities to do in Worcester when I'm home for the summer. You know, get out of the house and meet people other than my co-workers. So, like any good child of the internet generation, I turned to Google. Before Worcester's PFLAG chapter, but after an advertisement for a Queer Kiss-In, what do I find? Some of that folklore of Worcester for which I was looking months ago! I'm looking for a queer bar/knitting group/book club and what do I find? Nineteenth century ghost stories, that's what! Now I need to call my mom and make sure it's not a relative quoted in that article...
Any advice on finding what I was actually looking for?

For those interested, I returned the cult book to the library... It was too sensationalist. Instead, I replaced it with Parade of Heroes by Tristram Potter Coffin and Hennig Cohen (which sound like names out of a bad fanfiction) and The Folktales of the Magyars by Rev. W. Henry Jones and Lewis L. Kropf.

If any Mawrtyrs need a smile, go no further than here. The entry on Worcester amuses me. Lovecraftian indeed!

Worcester is the bee's knees.

YAY for folklore!

As for the pagan, bisexual, etc. stuff~ yeah, I'm with you. I'm trying to refrain from tubthumping and such, but sometimes I get so excited about things in my life that my opinions leak all over the place.
